Background

Okan Ozyamaci is a Chartered Building Surveyor and the founder of K AND A BUILDING SURVEYORS LTD, the Dartford practice trading as K&A Chartered Surveyors. He has worked in property since 2006, in building surveying since 2013, and was elected a professional member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in November 2015.

He obtained a Higher National Diploma at the University of Greenwich in 2010, then a BSc (Hons) at the University of Westminster, completed in 2013.

He joined Hindwoods in Blackheath as a graduate building surveyor in June 2013 and worked through the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence there. His work in that period covered building surveys, defect inspections, schedules of condition and dilapidations, landlord and tenant disputes, party wall matters, contract administration, fire insurance reinstatement cost assessments, fire risk assessments and the preparation of specifications. He qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 2015 and went on to become an Associate Director at the firm before leaving in 2020.

He established K&A Chartered Surveyors in March 2020 with Sezer Ozyamaci, with the aim of running an independent, RICS-regulated practice built around direct contact between the client and a chartered surveyor. The practice has since grown to employ several surveyors and an office manager, supported by consultants including a Chartered Valuation Surveyor and a RIBA Conservation Accredited Architect, and moved to larger offices at The Bridge Nucleus in Dartford in 2026.

A survey should do more than simply list defects. It should provide the client with useful information about the condition of the building, the significance of the issues identified and the practical steps that may be required. It should leave the client able to make an informed decision before committing legally.
